Governors

St Dunstan's is a Voluntary Aided Church of England school, and our Governing Body is made up from a mixture of appointed and elected governors.

Foundation governors are always in the majority and are appointed by the Cheam Parochial Church Council (PCC) and the Diocese of Southwark; parent governors are elected by the parent body; the staff governor is elected by the staff. In addition, the London Borough of Sutton appoint a governor and the Headteacher and Rector are ex-officio members.

The role of the governing body is strategic, not operational, with 3 key aims:

  • Ensuring the clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school;
  • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils;
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and ensuring money is well-spent.

Chair of Governors:     Mr Martin Swain

Vice Chair:                    Mr Dan Jones

Should you wish to contact the Chair of Governors, please contact the school office on 020 8642 5463 or e-mail at chairofgovernors@stdunstanscheam.co.uk for the attention of Mr Martin Swain.
