Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND)

Our SENDCO is Mrs D Soma.  Mrs Soma can be contacted on 020 8642 5463.

At St Dunstan’s Cheam, Church of England Primary School it is our aim for every child to meet their full potential by providing a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, which develops curiosity, interest and enjoyment in their own education and development. The school aims to identify, in an ongoing manner the physical, social, emotional and educational needs for all pupils. The staff will provide (in partnership with outside agencies, parents and other staff) appropriate support to meet individual needs.

Our aim is to enrich the lives of all our pupils by pursing an inclusive policy towards our pupils which celebrates diversity, understands the importance of common identity and reflects our Christian values. We will strive to champion equality for people with disabilities and aim to make reasonable adjustments to physical and other arrangements of the school where considered necessary, taking into account the nature of any impairment, pupil and parent views, advice from teachers and other professionals, as well as appropriate use of funding.

As a result of a continued commitment to improving and developing practice, the school had intensive training and  has been awarded Speech and Language recognition of good practice from Sutton Speech and Language Service in 2017.The school has Speech and Language Approval with some elements of excellence, the first school in Sutton to receive this award.
